The City of Maitland covers 396 square kilometres stretching from Woodberry in the east to Tocal in the north, Gillieston Heights to the south and Lochinvar to the west. Maitland has a picturesque river landscape with numerous well preserved historic buildings, testament to the wealth of the City during its early years of development.

Not only rich in history Maitland is plentiful in its selection of fine food, wine and produce and accommodation to ensure you have an enjoyable stay.

Whether an organic offering from the stock of roadside farmers stalls, a la carte at one of the finest restaurants within the region, or anything between, there is sure to be something to delight the senses. Visit family owned and operated wineries and sample a splendid drop or two some quite unique to the area including delicious fruit wines.

Bag a bargain at the largest regional markets, held the first Sunday of each month, tour through heritage listed areas and historic homes, take a walk along the river bank or enjoy a breath taking Hot Air Balloon or Tiger Moth flight. Other visitors may choose just to relax in peaceful surrounds, enjoy the scenery as you take a self-drive or share a picnic by the Hunter River.

The Maitland Regional Art Gallery holds quality exhibitions within its dramatic Gothic Federation display space and Mindaribba Aboriginal Land Council has a museum displaying archaeological findings from the region and a series of indigenous art and craft. National Trust property Grossman House is open for inspection giving an insight into Maitland's past.
